Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti is observed every year on 14th April to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a great social reformer. This day is celebrated across the nation as a mark of respect for his immense contribution to social justice, equality, and nation-building.
अन्तर्जातीय मातृभाषा दिवसः (International Mother Language Day)Feb-2025
International Mother Language Day was observed with great enthusiasm on 21st February 2025 at St. Joseph’s College for Women, Visakhapatnam, under the auspices of the Department of Second Languages. The programme aimed to highlight the importance of linguistic diversity, cultural heritage, and the preservation of mother tongues in the contemporary globalized world.
As part of the celebrations, students actively participated in various activities such as recitations, short speeches, poems, and cultural expressions in different mother languages. These activities showcased the richness of regional and classical languages and encouraged students to take pride in their linguistic heritage.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence at St. Joseph’s College for Women, Visakhapatnam on 5th September 2024, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned scholar, philosopher, and former President of India.
Students Seminar
Sanskrit Week was celebrated on 24th August 2024 with great enthusiasm and academic spirit at St. Joseph’s College for Women, Visakhapatnam, under the auspices of the Department of Second Languages. The programme aimed to highlight the importance of Sanskrit as an ancient, scientific, and cultural language and to create awareness among students about India’s rich literary heritage.
As part of the celebrations, various activities such as Sanskrit shloka recitation, essay writing, quiz competitions, and speech presentations were conducted for the students. Faculty members explained the relevance of Sanskrit in modern times, its contribution to Indian philosophy, ethics, science, and literature, and its role in preserving cultural values.

Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi (गान्धी जयन्ति) was observed on 02 October 2023 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. The occasion was celebrated with great respect and patriotic spirit, highlighting Gandhiji’s ideals of truth (Satya), non-violence (Ahimsa), simplicity, and self-discipline.
